The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the notification for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) for the year 2026. A total of 11,127 vacancies are available across various railway zones in India. This is a great opportunity for candidates looking for a career in the Indian Railways.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Age Limit: 18-30 Years as on 01/07/2026 (Upper age relaxation: 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC-NCL, and as per Government rules for others).
• Educational Qualification: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in specified trades OR Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship OR Matriculation/SSLC plus 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering OR Degree in the above Engineering disciplines.
• Medical Standard: A-1 (Physically fit in all respects, Vision 6/6 without glasses, normal colour/binocular vision, no LASIK surgery allowed).
• Nationality: Indian citizen or eligible categories as per rules.

Application Fee:

• General / OBC Category: ₹500/-
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC: ₹250/- (Refundable on appearing in CBT-1)
• Payment Mode: Online (Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI / Net Banking)

Selection Process:

The selection process comprises the following stages:

• Computer Based Test (CBT) Stage-1
• Computer Based Test (CBT) Stage-2
• Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
• Document Verification
• Medical Examination

Note: Negative marking of 1/3rd for wrong answers in CBT-1 and CBT-2.

Salary:

Pay Level 2: ₹19,900 - ₹63,200/- per month + allowances.
